Hillcrest Boulevard

This stone farmhouse has hosted its share of history since its humble beginning in 1729 (it once served as safe passage on the Underground Railroad). With modern needs in tow we began the complete deconstruction (and then some) of the kitchen.

We started by removing the floor(s) and then excavating the dirt crawlspace floor below to gain more headroom. After adding some much needed insulation and fresh plaster walls we added cabinets and professional appliances but held on to the colonial era details that connect the space to the rest of a wonderful old home.

Some of the highlights included: reclaimed winder stair treads, true divided light windows and a custom breakfast table.

I can't tell you how many times Mike came up with solutions to the inevitable changes that come along with an older house. Or how his work ethic is over the top, doing whatever it takes to get the job done right and perfectly. Or how working with him and his team was like extending our family. His patience, good humor, communication skills and thoughtfulness linger even since the job has been done…on time, on budget and on track with everything we dreamed and more. We are so proud of all he and his terrific team did to make our home more beautiful and enjoyable for years to come.
